Collections Manager

Operating out of the Cape Town Head Office, the successful applicant will take full responsibility for developing, implementing and maintaining the organisations South Africa collections strategy and operations. The ideal candidate will have 4 years’ experience in a position that involved influencing or developing the collections strategy for a successful business. Reporting into the South African CEO and Head of Collections UK, the main functions of the role will include:
Interpreting collections, recovery and arrears rehabilitation policies for the South African market
Leading the area on collections in South Africa, providing local expertise
Taking actions and providing analysis to support the international business and enhance global knowledge relating to collections and recoveries including alternative methods
Determining the best strategy and structure for the evolving South African collections function, working with the Head of Collections (UK) and South African Chief Executive
Managing and monitor relationships with key suppliers and identifying opportunities to work with new innovative service providers
Managing the cost to collect against defined targets
Helping to develop an effective collections planning model and collections scorecard for South Africa that coordinates and contributes to the global company strategy
Ensuring compliance at all times with the requirements of the various provincial collections regulations and requirements, privacy laws, and other applicable consumer protection legislation.
Additional responsibilities include:
Advising the business on matters relating to collections
Taking ownership of sensitive customer matters
Helping to deliver world class customer service
Adapting global policies with respect to insolvency/bankruptcy to the South African market while complying with local regulations
Candidate
Minimum of 4 years working at a senior level in a large consumer oriented business
Solid history of defining and executing customer facing policies and strategies
A robust understanding of the principles behind collections and recoveries
Proven track record in finding innovative solutions to conventional problems
Strong team player and positive attitude towards customers and colleagues is essential
Outstanding people and negotiation skills,
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Sound numerical skills
Degree preferable strongly preferred
High level of computer literacy working with customer support systems
Proven ability to multitask and deliver exceptional results in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
Strong problem solving skills
Calm, diplomatic, convincing
Salary range is negotiable depending on experience
