Job Description:
A Procurement Officer plays a vital role in ensuring that the company makes wise purchasing decision. The successful candidate will be required to purchase goods and services for the purpose of reselling or use on behalf of the organization.
 
Responsibilities:

  • Negotiate contracts and preparing reports
  • Research potential vendors
  • Evaluating vendors
  • Build strong relationships with key suppliers to ensure merchandise is high quality and delivered on time
  • Compare and evaluate offers from suppliers
  • Create and implement supplier agreements
  • Assist in negotiating contract terms of agreement and pricing
  • Track orders and ensure timely delivery
  • Review quality of purchased products
  • Manage supplier warranties and guaranties

 
Requirements: Qualification and Skill

  • Grade 12 with relevant Diploma / Degree
  • 4 – 7 years if experience in procurement – driving cost savings and improving terms and conditions
  • 2+ years’ experience with Navision – strong control programme knowledge and strong Excel skills
  • Proven track record in leading the procurement function
  • Solid job skills in planning, consulting, financial analysis, data analysis, evaluation and problem- solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Excellent command of English and one other official language
  • Experience with forex purchasing and importing goods from abroad
  • Time management skills
  • Strong market network – must know who to call if prices need to be challenged
  • Good report writing skills to prepare weekly reports of that week’s wins and losses.
