Job Description:

Our client is seeking an Open Pit Mine Manager who will join their team in Namibia. The incumbent will be responsible for planning and designing short to mid-term open pit mining operations to optimize production and minimize costs.

Responsibilities:

• Develop and maintain short to mid-term open pit mining plans and schedules based on geological data, mine plans, and production targets
• Work closely with geologists, surveyors, and other mining professionals to ensure accurate and up-to-date information is incorporated into the mine plans
• Conduct pit design and optimization studies to ensure maximum ore recovery and minimum waste generation
• Develop and maintain budget and cost control procedures for mining operations
• Prepare technical reports, including feasibility studies, environmental impact assessments, and mine closure plans
• Liaise with stakeholders, including government officials, contractors, and local communities, to ensure compliance with relevant laws and regulations
• Identify opportunities for continuous improvement in mining operations, including safety, efficiency, and sustainability

Requirements: Qualification and Skill

• Minimum 5 years' experience in open pit mining operations with base metals experience
• Bachelor's degree in Mining Engineering or related field
• Experience in short to mid-term mine planning software such as Surpac, MineSight, or Datamine
• Strong knowledge of open pit mining methods, techniques, and equipment
• Understanding of relevant legislation and regulatory requirements (MHSA)
